LIEPAJA ∞ LATVIA

Didzis Jurkovskis (b. 1981) is a Latvian designer and craftsman from Liepaja, creating one-of-a-kind furniture and sculptural objects in limited series or bespoke commissions. Guided by time-honoured techniques and natural materials, he crafts each piece with care and longevity in mind — works that bridge functionality and art, designed for the everyday yet refined as sculptural form.
A graduate of the Liepaja College of Applied Arts, he later earned both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from the Metal Design Department of the Art Academy of Latvia.
In his small workshop — once his grandfather’s garage — every creation is shaped with traditional tools and techniques, using only wood species that grow in Latvia. The process embraces freedom in form and material, guided by the natural character of each piece of wood.
His work draws inspiration from the flowing lines of nature and follows a minimalist philosophy — stripping away the unnecessary to reveal the essence of form and the beauty of the material itself.
